Towering Thoughts
In a world full of darkness, people, much like the skyscraper buildings, shine light and color unto the world. This is not the only similarity between the human race and their industrial counterparts; think of the uniqueness contained within each respective structure simply waiting for a way to impact the surroundings. Each building appears similar in height and even in its facade, but within every floor is another office room with a different story. Like the famous poet Baudelaire once wrote, “there is nothing more profound, more mysterious, more pregnant, more insidious, more dazzling than a window.” One can spend an eternity staring, analyzing, and wondering what is contained within each repeating set of four walls. The people, too, seem to be identical at first. On a fine winter day everyone is sporting a long, heavy coat with snowflakes lining each soft and furry hood. But the destination of each pair of boots being worn is different; every person, like these buildings, has their own unique story. As I drive over the body of water and see each building and its light reflected on its depths, I can’t help but wonder what color, shade, or hue will shine out of me.
